To My Dear Sisters - A breakup letter to P*rn

We experience SO MANY beautiful moments in Freedom Coaching. We are priviledged to see some of the most broken men and women, broken on the wheels of living, come alive and live a life of internal freedom. Our own work plays a small part, but most importantly, it is the grace of God being operable in the client, he or she responds, and then miracles happen! 

A current client of ours has done a significant amount of work regarding his past, experiencing tremendous wounds to his sexuality, but also remarkable redemption. He has arrived at a place in his life that he is accepting himself. This has occurred because he has taken ownership of himself and his past mistakes. He is starting to feel comfortable in his own skin and his true desires are beginning to arise. It is like watching a beautiful flower bloom. In truth, he is shedding the masks of a false life, the masks that many of us wear. 

Below is his breakup letter to porn. It's truly beautiful. As you read this, I encourage you to read this not just with your eyes, but with the eyes of your heart. Let God speak to you in the spaces of your brokenness. 

My dear sisters,

I am sorry for failing to see how beautiful you truly are. You deserve to be loved as a child of God. I came to you distraught and used you as an instrument to numb my pain. What were your dreams, what were your sorrows ? as your brother I never cared for those. I was so engrossed in my own brokenness. I never got to know the real you.

I came looking for God and didn’t realize you are his temples and he dwells within you. I just didn’t look deep enough. I am sorry.

I am sorry I added to your pain. I am sorry I reflected our Heavenly Father in a bad way to you.

This letter is to tell you that from today I will live up to my calling as your brother, by god’s Grace. I will pray for you and offer my sufferings for you. Even those of you I have only met on a screen, your faces are etched in my mind. I feel your pain. I feel your darkness. I pray that you encounter the love of the Father for real.

I will pray that every pain I caused you, directly or indirectly, be healed. I hope and wait to meet you in heaven and tell you my sisters how beautiful and loved you really are.
